Stanley Simmons - Temporary Love
With “Temporary Love,” Stanley Simmons make Americana feel personal, intimate, and unmistakably their own.
Last December, Cali duo Stanley Simmons released their debut single “Body Down,” and I’ve been hooked ever since. Earlier this year came the wildly fun “Dancing While The World Is Ending,” and now, with “Temporary Love,” we’re getting a third glimpse ahead of their debut album in August.
Nick Simmons and Evan Stanley often point to Americana as a key influence, and “Temporary Love” might be the clearest expression of that so far. Americana can mean a lot of things, but for me it lands somewhere very specific. There’s a hint of Kansas in here, and with it, a feeling that goes straight back to the music I loved in my early teenage years. Not quite nostalgia, something deeper and harder to name, and I know I love it.
“This was the first song we ever wrote together so it’s really what started Stanley Simmons. It’s a special one for us and we can’t wait for you to hear it.”
“Temporary Love” leans into that feeling with beautiful vocal harmonies and a sense of openness that lets the song breathe. Maybe that’s what draws me in the most, that idea of not letting a fleeting moment slip away, of holding on just a little longer to see what it might become.
