Late Again - To Stop the Time
Airy grooves carry “To Stop the Time” into that elusive space between here and somewhere else.
It seems almost overdue that a project named Late Again would release a single titled “To Stop the Time.” The song opens Rafael Melo’s new EP, I Dreamt I Was Awake, whose very title echoes that same feeling of being suspended somewhere between one state and another.
The Brazilian-born, Brooklyn-based musician describes two people who have grown apart and no longer fit into each other’s worlds, even though everything might still make sense in an ideal version of their lives. As on “If You Have a Bridge (I’m Buying),” which we featured previously, Melo envelops the listener in a hazy flow of mesmerizing music—airy and light, almost like a dream. Not quite here, but not entirely elsewhere either.
The accompanying video finds Melo swaying through brightly saturated fields and serenading a rather attentive audience of cows and chickens.
