Everyone Says Hi lean fully into the warm haze of 70s soft rock and psych-pop on “Just Like That.” There’s something wonderfully unhurried about the track: mellow grooves, shimmering textures, and Nick Hodgson’s wistful vocals drifting through it all like late-night thoughts you can’t quite shake. The Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers influence is unmistakable, but it never feels like nostalgia cosplay. Instead, the band turns those inspirations into something intimate and quietly modern.

Frontman Nick Hodgson says:

“We tried to dig into that romantic, dreamy atmosphere that is the mood with this kind of music. The thread that flows through the lyrics is new life, the fragility of life and the wisdom you’re supposed to gather as you get older. The lyrics in the chorus, ‘I can make my mind up, I don’t need to hold a sign up’ is about believing in your own opinion and not having to check it in against what’s going on on social media.”

It’s the kind of song that slowly wraps itself around you and then lingers long after it ends. Listen to "Just Like That," our Song Pick of the Day:
