Nabihah Iqbal - Heaven Can Wait [Video]
A feel-good song about everyday joy, built on a chorus that lifts without overreaching.
We could use more songs like “Heaven Can Wait” that celebrate life’s plentiful joys. Not the sugar highs, but the day-to-day moments that make life worthwhile. The producer and DJ Nabihah Iqbal keeps the verses grounded with indie rock bass and guitar and her signature contemplative vocals, so the mostly wordless chorus soars just a little and makes you smile.
She says:
“‘Heaven Can Wait’ is a song about the happiness of friendship. It's about loving life, feeling good and appreciating all the positive things that this world has to offer. The song is inspired by summers in London and New York City: it's about having fun with your friends, and really, truly feeling alive. I wrote the song in a small, quirky, basement studio in the East Village, Manhattan and I wanted to channel the energy and freedom of this iconic New York neighbourhood.”
Nabihah recorded “Heaven Can Wait” with a full band, which gives it a warm, organic feel. She also announced that she has signed with Brooklyn label Ghostly International. Listen to our Song Pick of the Day on your favorite streaming service or watch the NYC-filmed montage-style video below:
