Veps - If I Was A Mother
A quiet reflection on the future: Veps’ new single “If I Was A Mother” captures the anticipation of what life might hold someday
Helena, Laura, June, and Maja of the Norwegian quartet Veps are in their early 20s, a time when thoughts about the future begin to feel more tangible. Their new single, “If I Was A Mother,” captures a quiet moment of reflection about what life might hold one day. Built around driving drums and a steady bassline, the song carries a sense of anticipation and possibility.
The band says:
We wanted to make a song about looking forward to what comes in the future, in this case the event of becoming mothers, and about how you can look forward to passing on knowledge about life. For some of us, it came as a shock that having children suddenly became something we longed for. The song is also about how it’s important to remember where you are in life and that everything comes at its own pace.
"If I was a Mother" is from Veps' upcoming album, ChurchyardStreet 8B, out on May 29 via PNKSLM. Listen to our Song Pick of the Day on Apple Music, Spotify, or below on Bandcamp:
