Sasha Goldberg and Maia Ciambriello lived parallel lives growing up before connecting over music while studying in New Orleans. After building momentum with earlier releases, they now present their debut album Fake Brave Life as The Army, The Navy, out June 12 via Independent Co.

The new single, “Pretty, Pink, and Soft,” captures the exhausting cycle of giving someone another chance—even when you know better. The song leans into that tension, matching its restless energy with a constant push and pull. In the end, she admits she might be part of the problem, singing, “And I think I like to keep you guessing.”

The duo explains:

At a certain point, even the most patient people become fed up. There's only so much weaponized incompetence one can handle. Do I leave this person forever, or do I give them a second chance to make me a fool? ‘Pretty, Pink and Soft’ is the violent dance between loving and hating someone.”
