Ski Team - Thirst Trap for Diego

Brooklyn artist Ski Team turns “Thirst Trap for Diego” into a sly, live-recorded pop groove about the digital seduction spiral.

Ski Team - Thirst Trap for Diego

There’s a lot to discover in this song—from its title and lyrics to its shape-shifting production. Lucie Lozinski, aka Ski Team, invites you to dive into her new single, “Thirst Trap for Diego.” What first sounds like synth-pop turns out to be a live recording full of playful musicianship and infectious energy.

Lucie explains:

Influences on this were a slightly darker Tears for Fears and Steely Dan. Something sorta cheese-rock. I don't want to go into too much detail about what it's about—think it's more fun if you can see someone you know in it. Making it was very fun, we did it live in a room together. The vocals aren't live—swapped them out for these vocal stacks.

“Thirst Trap for Diego” is the first single of the Ski Team debut album Burnout/Boys, out on January 23. Listen to our Song Pick of the Day on your favorite streaming service or watch the stop-motion cut-paper video created by TraceLoop below:
