Ruby of Thanks - Flosser

There is something wonderfully unassuming about Ruby of Thanks' "Flosser." Quirky yet quietly charming, the song finds beauty in life's smallest moments without trying to impress. Its understated arrangement and unhurried pace create a space that is both calming and refreshingly free of unnecessary embellishment.

Ruby of Thanks is the project of Hudson Valley musician Andy Weaver, who announces the new album, Before You Turn Into A Dog, arriving September 18 on Woodsist. Recorded largely at home with Weaver playing every instrument himself, the album embraces the beauty of first takes and ideas left wonderfully intact. That spirit shines throughout "Flosser." Weaver sings, “Little yellow flower on the water // Biting down this flosser,” transforming an ordinary observation into something quietly memorable.

As Weaver explains:

"Hopefully it captures some spirit of creation. The idea of songwriting as a way to process events and create peace at home by working with your hands, making things. Self-recording as a response to capitalism in art."

Sometimes the most rewarding songs are the ones that simply slow the world down for a couple of minutes. "Flosser" does exactly that.
