French artist Swan Wisnia, under her solo project molto morbidi, has just released “To Watch The Ducks Go,” the first single from her upcoming album Maybe Marcel, due April 17 via No Salad Records.

Listening to “To Watch The Ducks Go” is exhilarating, thanks to its exquisite production and moody undercurrent. There’s a constant push and pull that feels uplifting in a quietly sophisticated way. With its subtle electronic touches, the song keeps you slightly on edge — a gentle rattling of the senses that feels intentional, and deeply satisfying.

Talking about the first single, “To Watch The Ducks Go,” Wisnia said:

“The lyrics are a kind of meditation on the strong bond I felt with my surroundings last year. I felt more attentive to objects around me and to nature, even more prone to daydream than usual, feeling in my bones that whatever happens in our personal lives, the world keeps on turning. At times, it felt comforting, but at other times infuriating. To come out of the hospital and hear the birds, or watch the ducks go about their usual business, was both the perfect reminder that we are nothing in the grand scheme of things compared to the infinite cycles of nature, and at the same time, there were moments where it just made me want to scream, “How dare you remain indifferent to my hardship?” (Human vanity, right?). The take of the song is to not give into the second feeling, but rather dwell on the first, which brings peace and beauty.”
