Liz Cooper - Sorry (That I Love You)
An apology that turns inward: Liz Cooper’s “Sorry (That I Love You)” captures the painful moment when loving someone means learning to choose yourself.
Love and friendship can complement each other—but they can also be completely at odds. Singer-songwriter Liz Cooper finds herself stuck in the latter situation in her new song, “Sorry (That I Love You).” There’s no clean way out here, only the slow realization that something has to give.
Liz shares:
[The track] started as a genuine apology for falling in love with someone who didn't want me but who wouldn’t let me go. The song took three painful and confusing years to be fully realized and was set in stone with a different meaning the day we started our last session, the same day the Altadena fires began in east LA, the flames raged on and the music was put on pause, I finally hit my breaking point and re-wrote Sorry (That I Love You) as an apology to myself.
"Sorry (That I Love You" is from Liz Cooper's upcoming album New Day, out on February 20 via Sleepyhead Records. Listen to our Song Pick of the Day on Apple Music, Spotify, or below on YouTube:
