Californian artist little luna has a way of making life's complications feel a little lighter. Her new single "upward spiral" begins with the song's title and immediately pulls you into its bouncy, optimistic world.

I've been a fan since "fool" and her wonderful EP the wildflower woman, which culminated in the guided meditation "garden." Like much of her work, "upward spiral" pairs irresistible melodies with a deeper reflection beneath the surface.

The song leads off her upcoming seven-track EP whenever we get to wherever we're going. Written during a year of juggling three jobs to support both life and art, it grew out of the realization that personal growth can feel circular when viewed from the inside. Step back, however, and the path looks different: not a circle, but an upward spiral, always changing and moving forward, even when progress is hard to see.
