Josienne Clarke - Tiny Bird's Lament

Josienne Clarke - Tiny Bird's Lament

Without even having listened to Josienne Clarke's brand new song "Tiny Bird's Lament," I knew I wanted to feature it. For one thing, I loved the singer, songwriter, and guitarist's music in the past, and had featured "Double Edged Sword," almost exactly one year ago. Secondly, this morning, I ventured out very early to Central Park for an organized bird walk where we tried to find migrating birds on their break South. Like the little feathered friends Josienne refers to in her lyrics, I did see some really tiny ones that don't stay over winter in New York, and this made me very happy.

True to her craft, Josienne uses sparse instrumentation, basically a guitar with nylon strings only, and her gorgeous vocals, to create an intimate space to evoke a bird's song. It has been recorded straight to tape in a remote Scottish cabin. Magnificent! With "Tiny Bird's Lament," she announces her new album Far From Nowhere, out November 30th, which will be accompanied by a short film. As with previous work, Josienne collaborated with Alec Bowman_Clarke whom we're also fond of here at glamglare. Watch the trailer of this upcoming film, "Delude," to get a sense of what Josienne and her crew have been working on. It'll be a treat.

Asked about the new single, Josienne says:

“This tiny bird is finally free to sing its song, a documentation of the fight to free itself and a celebration of its freedom… just pure and true.”
