Ibeyi - Offerings [Video]

Ibeyi’s self-titled 2015 debut album, one of my all-time favorite records, has many extraordinary features: teenage twin-sister harmonies, multilingual lyrics, raw minimalist production, and music that effortlessly connects three continents. It couldn’t have been easy to move forward without repeating themselves. That’s why I’m so happy to hear Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Diaz recapture so much of the old magic on their fourth album, Offering. The (almost) title track “Offerings” charms with intimate vocals, a gentle organ-driven melody, and sparse beats—everything that made their earliest songs so irresistible.
