Emma Lindquist - Closer To You
“Closer To You” channels a minimalist swagger that feels both intimate and fearless.
I didn’t expect to think of Minneapolis superstar Prince while casually listening to Danish singer/songwriter Emma Lindquist’s new single — and yet here we are. “Closer To You” carries that same effortless swagger and finesse, the kind of minimal confidence that made Prince’s “Kiss” so timeless. It’s lean, self-assured, and quietly magnetic. I couldn’t help but fall for it immediately. It’s just so good.
On “Closer To You,” Emma Lindquist explores her own sexual freedom, pairing intimate pop instincts with a sense of control that never slips into excess. She says:
“I’ve never dared to tell anyone that I’m completely undone by them, even though I feel a spark every time we’re close.”
That tension comes through beautifully in the lyrics:
“I imagine walking slowly towards you
And the wine inside my blood makes me sway as I get closer to you
I imagine feeling soft, only inches from your faces
Smiling in the way that you do makes my heart go”
It’s all closeness, anticipation, and self-awareness. It's desire expressed with elegance rather than force. One quiet spark, fully owned.
