Big, anthemic, and emotionally wide open — “Thoughts” is powered by a huge chorus that feels made for shouting along, even when the words cut deep. Listening to it, I kept thinking: maybe we’re not supposed to have it all figured out. Life is constant change, constant motion — and with that comes endless chances to learn, unlearn, and grow. We’re never really “done” developing. So if I could offer Dylan Espeseth one piece of advice, it would be this: be gentle with yourself.
When asked what inspired the song, Dylan explains:
“I’m not the person I thought I’d be at this age. I feel like I can’t help but waste every opportunity and good thing that comes my way. It reaches the point where I just wanna pack up everything and run away, get fully lost and start over. This song is about feeling like I’ve blown every chance I’ve had, so I might as well start fresh.”
