Between the two of us at glamglare, Oliver has always been a passionate fan of Manchester post-punk legends The Chameleons. When we met back in the ’90s, I liked listening to those records, but the spark never quite ignited for me. That changed today. The first few bars of "Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing" were pulling me right into the track, and I loved it from the spot. When I listened more closely to the lyrics that Vox's vocals carry as mesmerizingly as ever, I moved the feature I had originally planned for today because this is not just a catchy tune; it is an important one. That’s what great songwriters do: they wrap a vital message in a beautiful melody and an irresistible production. Bravo!

With my thoughts out of the way, let's hear what Vox says about the track:

“I just see too many echoes of the 1930s in what’s been going on in the world, which I personally see as being extremely dangerous both for the country I’ve chosen to live in and the Western world in general."

The "country I've chosen to live in," hits home. Vox offers further:

“The melody and lyrics came to me quite quickly,” Vox explains. “They reflect what has happening globally and how senior officials could be seen lining up to kiss the ring of this clown, who seemed to regard himself more as a self-proclaimed king than an elected official.”

"Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing" is taken from the band's upcoming album Arctic Moon, out via Metropolis Records on September 12, 2025. By the way, Chamelons will be on tour through the U.S., and if you get the chance, go see them live. A long-time favorite of mine, Psychedelic Furs, will be joining them for part of the tour. What an epic lineup!
