Carlita, SOFI TUKKER - Manhattan [Video]

Surely, many songs have been written about New York City, but “Manhattan” celebrates its most iconic borough with the kind of unabashed enthusiasm that feels refreshing today. The Turkish-Italian producer Carlita teamed up with dance pop duo SOFI TUKKER, who have so far resisted the genre-typical move to LA, for an upbeat ode to the NYC lifestyle. We’ve followed SOFI TUKKER since the beginning, and it’s hard to imagine a more fitting subject for them than the city where it all started.

No one can explain it better than SOFI TUKKER themselves:

There’s nothing like walking down the streets of Manhattan, head phones in, and life feels like a movie. That’s the energy of this song. It has such a happy, cheerful vibe that celebrates life and simple serendipities. It’s exactly how we feel about the city, and about Carlita. We made the music video in one of our best friends’ cars, and got to just hang out and pet dogs and drink Matcha… a perfect Manhattan day. We get to travel the world and experience the beauty of so many places, but there’s still “no other place like Manhattan” hehe. It’s been a constant home for us and the place we started the band… there will never be too many love songs for New York.

Carlita gives us some background about the production:

“Manhattan” came out of a studio session where we were talking with some friends about how tough dating in New York can be. That conversation naturally turned into music when Lilly started trying out some lyrics and I began recording ideas. SOFI TUKKER joined forces, since Sofi also lives in New York, and we all wanted to make this song together. We’ve been trying to collaborate for years and this felt like the perfect moment as New Yorkers to finally make it happen. It all came together very spontaneously and maybe it’s the perfect song to start the summer.
