BROCKHOFF - Blue Star
BROCKHOFF pairs playful flutes and springtime charm with reflections on love and memory in "Blue Star."
Hamburg-based indie rocker Lina Brockhoff, who records as BROCKHOFF, looks back with warmth rather than regret on "Blue Star," a highlight from her newly released album Easy Peeler. Playful flutes and a bright, spring-like feel give the song an easy optimism, even as it lingers on thoughts of what might have been.
"I often find it difficult to think of the past without wanting to change it. This song is about wallowing in the thoughts of 'What if', like, what if we'd worked out, what if I'd given it another try, what if I'd kissed you at the front door... kind of thoughts. I wanted to write a positive song about a past relationship but it immediately felt a bit shaky and risky at the same time as it felt comforting in a way. I was afraid that seeing this person again would stir things up again."
