Certainty about a decision can feel like a rush, even if it leads to an uncertain future. The Icelandic singer-songwriter Bríet turns that moment into an anthem. And its soaring chorus makes you want to join her, whether on the narrow roads through her home country’s breathtaking landscape, as in the video, or on the highway to fulfilling your next dream.
Bríet says:
‘Last Dance’ is about that moment in your life when you realize you just have to go. You don’t necessarily know where you’re going, or whether it’s the right direction, but something inside you keeps calling you forward. I wanted to capture what it feels like to trust that instinct so completely that you’re willing to leave everything familiar behind—even the people you love—and step into the unknown.
She is also a great live performer, as we could see at this year’s New Colossus Festival. Over the next two days, she’s playing San Francisco and Los Angeles, supporting Daði Freyr.
