Bella Kay - Steady

Bella Kay captures the exhausting inner voice that tells you you’re never quite ready — or good enough — for love

Bella Kay - Steady
Pholo: Hayley Gregerson

In “Steady,” the Florida-via-Texas singer-songwriter Bella Kay does the negative self-talk for you — the kind that creeps in when you feel unworthy of love. Lines like “Guess I’ll never be ready” capture that familiar fear of never quite being enough.

The restrained, guitar-driven production keeps the song intimate and grounded, turning it into an honest reflection on self-doubt rather than a plea for reassurance. Bella lays out her insecurities with striking clarity, even admitting she’s “working on it.”

It is also worth pointing out that the song is co-written and produced by Alexis Kesselman, aka Idarose, making it one of the still too rare all-female collaborations in alternative pop.

“Steady” appears on Bella Kay’s new three-song release, a couple of minutes out. Listen to “Steady,” our Song Pick of the Day, on your favorite streaming service or watch the lyric video below.
