A moment suspended between distance and closeness—Beck Zegans holds onto what remains on “Love In The End Times”

There’s a particular feeling to New York in the early morning hours, when the streets are quiet and everything seems briefly suspended. “Love In The End Times,” the new single from Ridgewood, Queens-based artist Beck Zegans, holds onto that moment—intimate, slightly unreal, and shared with just a few people who matter.

The song moves through that space with a sense of closeness that doesn’t need much explanation. It’s less about what is said than what remains when everything else fades: a connection that feels both fragile and absolute.

Beck Zegans explains the video:

Shot on a Sony Hi8 Handycam, the video follows six friends as we walk down the length of Manhattan in the middle of the night, starting on the Upper West Side around 3:30 am and ending on the Brooklyn Bridge at dawn. This is a tradition my friend Alice started with her high school friends. I've done it with her before but not for many years, and I wanted to do it again to document the beautifully delirious experience.

“Love In The End Times” is the second single from Beck Zegans’ upcoming album Engraving Of Armor, out May 22 via Exploding In Sound Records. Listen to our Song Pick of the Day on your favorite streaming service or watch the video below.
