Au/ra - E-MOTION [Video]

We featured the German-Antiguan singer-songwriter Au/Ra ten years ago with her debut single “Concrete Jungle.” At the time, we didn’t realize she was only 14 years old. Last Friday, Au/Ra released heartcore, her first full-length album on Island Records. Inspired by fantasy and world-building, she describes it as a concept album exploring “the dungeon” of her mind.

She says about“E-MOTION:”

When you’re feeling depressed for so long, you start to feel like a cold, offline machine. Writing this song was the exact moment I felt like the power flipped back on in my real life. In the heartcore story, it’s the part of the hero’s journey where things turn from being so bleak to having hope again, which is why it’s the penultimate track of the album.
