Los Angeles quartet wilt tap into the moody, melodic side of alternative rock on "dent," a song that immediately brings to mind Incubus around the Morning View era. Beautiful vocal harmonies and a brooding, guitar-driven atmosphere give the track its pull, while Chelsea Rifkin's expressive lead vocals bring a refreshing presence to that familiar sonic territory. "dent" doesn't stay in one place for long. Its compact runtime holds an unusual structure, a time-signature change, and an increasingly intense outro that pushes the song into much heavier territory.

The band says:

“’dent’ is by far the most unique song we've ever written — an unusual structure, a time signature change, a crazy outro — and yet it's the most wilt thing we've ever made. Carlos De La Garza's production made it as loud and massive as it deserved. It's short, but it feels like our sonic thesis statement — which is exactly why we put it at the front of the album.”

The accompanying video, directed by Ambar Navarro, places the band in a retro-futurist setting, with clothing and accessories upcycled and handmade by Rifkin herself. As the opening track of wilt's forthcoming album when no one’s watching, "dent" makes that thesis statement in just a few compelling minutes. Listen to "dent," our Song Pick of the Day:
