When we last featured Swedish alt-pop artist Tove Styrke in July, it was with the equally gorgeous “Sunflower.” Now, “Me/You (always and forever)” offers another glimpse of her forthcoming album, I thought this story wasn’t about me, out November 6.

What is more enchanting: the song’s reassuring, softly glowing ’80s synths or Styrke’s utterly captivating vocals? The track moves in a beautifully unexpected flow, shifting shape around the synth arpeggios that remain its one constant. Dreamy and deeply calming, “Me/You (always and forever)” explores the one relationship that truly lasts a lifetime: the one we have with ourselves.

Styrke pictures the song as a moment of looking into a mirror at a party:

“looking at yourself like, ‘I guess it's just you and me…’ You are your own worst enemy, but you're also the last one looking out for you.”
