Sub*T - Overcomplicated
NYC duo Sub*T announce their debut album How My Own Voice Sounds with the grungy and introspective single “Overcomplicate.”
Grace Bennett and Jade Alcantara, aka Sub*T, met online through their shared love of music and eventually decided to form a band together. It does not get much more rock’n’roll than that. Still, they didn’t rush things and took seven years before releasing their debut full-length album, How My Own Voice Sounds, a title that means quite literally what the band explains:
The album title itself is more of a statement, but it poses a question we’ve been asking ourselves since we first started our band. How does my own voice sound? Not in a literal way. We know that much. But how do I want to use it, what do I want to say, how do I want to express all the details of my life so that I can recognize the sound of my own voice and understand myself? This album represents all the ways you can answer that to hear yourself as you really are, ultimately.
The single “Overcomplicate” is a grungy track about self-sabotaging thoughts, showcasing the band’s restrained approach to indie rock and their interplay of vocals.
