Sessa - Nome de Deus
Sessa’s “Nome de Deus” shimmers with jazz-infused intimacy and timeless grace.

Ever since I started learning Portuguese almost two years ago, I’ve wished for a song in the language—one I’d love enough to feature. That day has finally come, and I couldn’t be happier to present on my birthday Sessa, São Paulo–based artist Sérgio Sayeg, with “Nome de Deus” (“Name of God”). The jazzy drums and piano chords got me from the start, and Sessa’s smooth, intimate vocals do the rest. The result is a sultry yet restrained track that feels like an instant classic.
It’s the second single from Sessa's upcoming album Pequena Vertigem de Amor, out November 7 via Mexican Summer. Sessa says the songs on Pequena Vertigem de Amor “are a mix of personal chronicles and quiet meditations about life in the face of personal change, of experiencing something so big that you realize your insignificant size in space and time.”
