Oceanic - Oh No

Oceanic - Oh No

There’s something endlessly fascinating about three-piece bands — the interplay, the tension, the stripped-down chemistry. That mysterious push and pull is also what makes Oceanic, a synth-pop trio from Charlotte, North Carolina, so compelling. Their new single “Oh No” is a bright, irresistible summer jam: light, bouncy, and anchored by a sweet, carefree melody and an instantly catchy hook.

Asked about the track, Oceanic says:

“Oh No” is a love-hate song about Light Blue American Spirit cigarettes. The abusive relationship I find myself in with them has developed in my neural pathways since college in 2016, pushing and pulling on my emotions. I never want to see one again, but I also don’t know what I’d do without them. In a reality where both elation and disappointment seem dimmed and dulled in the realities of daily life, Light Blue Spirits give me the full range of emotion every time I hit one. That inspired this bubbly indie synth pop song.”
