Hazel Rose - Spare Key

"Spare Key" is more about moving on than a breakup. The London singer/songwriter Hazel Rose uses a house as a metaphor for a cooling relationship, and she is not planning to move back in any time soon. The song – recorded with a full band and enriched with field recordings – has an organic jazz club vibe and an underlying cheerfulness. After all, knowing what you want feels good.

Hazel Rose gives us some background about the track:

“This song is about the kind of love that once filled your world and made everything feel like home, but over time, you realise your home is just a house now,” Hazel Rose shares. “It’s about the unknown that comes with letting go, making plans for your own life, and holding onto the hope that life might bring you back together later, when you’re older, when things are different. It’s bittersweet, but I truly believe that if it’s meant to be, it will be.”
