Golden Apes - Stranger (When I Left)
Berlin-based indie quartet Golden Apes releases a spiritual follow-up to “Travelling Strangers” with today’s new single, “Stranger (When I Left).” From the first notes, the track is instantly alluring, evoking some of my favorite dark wave artists of the ’80s. Four decades on, this sound is still very much alive—and I couldn’t be happier to hear such a fresh and powerful take on it.
Driven by gritty guitars and sweeping dynamic shifts, the song channels the band’s early Goth rock roots—no coincidence, as it lyrically and emotionally picks up where “Travelling Strangers” left off nearly 25 years ago.
