At first, the fire looks like destruction. Dressed in scorched clothing, the members of GIFT retrieve their instruments from the flames and begin to play. It is a striking opening to the video for “Hand To The Flame,” directed, filmed, and edited by Sydney VillacortaBuer. Yet despite its fiery imagery and driving pulse, the song never feels menacing. Instead, it sounds like a big promise—an irresistible pull toward something, even when you know it might hurt.

The song is the lead single from GIFT’s newly announced album, Frenzy For The Thrill, out January 15, 2027, via Captured Tracks. Inspired partly by the myth of Icarus, “Hand To The Flame” explores the thin line between ambition and ego, passion and obsession, and the temptation to believe that this time, the fire might not burn.

Frontman TJ Freda says:

“‘Hand To The Flame’ is holding onto passion, and what makes us human while the world falls apart. Desperately chasing passion in a passionless world. Like charging full speed towards something you know will eventually hurt you. Repeatedly putting your hand in the flame with the same outcome, knowing it will always be the same outcome but hoping it will be different. There's romance in the chase, regardless of whether or not its going to hurt when you get to the end.”

As always, GIFT mesmerize from start to finish, making the thrill of the chase feel impossible to resist. Listen to “Hand To The Flame,” our Song Pick of the Day, and watch the video:
