Eliza McLamb - Like the Boys [Video]

For her second album, the Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Eliza McLamb sought out good stories from her life, which didn't always have to be happy. The first single, “Like the Boys,” reflects on her younger self trying to emulate the boys around her—boys who always seemed one step ahead.

She recalls:

 “Like the Boys” is about being a girl among the boys. I wanted to gain their authority, their audacity. I wanted them to love me like they loved each other. And looking back now, I see how we all played pretend with one another. I also see how play can be violent.”
