Eliza May - Money
Riding a R&B-tinged pop wave, British singer/songwriter Eliza May proves that a good melody doesn’t need much flourish. Her new single “Money” is an enchanting listen and a promising preview of her upcoming four-track EP, due later this year. After diving into her earlier releases, I’ve found a new favorite artist—and I can’t wait for what’s next.
It’s always fascinating to hear someone else’s take on what makes the world go round. Eliza shares the inspiration behind “Money”:
“Money is a song about empowerment and calling out the system. Like most people, when I was younger, I was sold the dream that if you work hard and get a job then be able to afford a nice house and live a great life. In this day and age, that script doesn’t seem to work anymore and I’m tired of everyone pretending it does. As a society we shouldn’t have to grind ourselves to the bone at work. We should be LIVING. not just suriving and that is why I wrote ‘Money’; to shed light on the financial struggles that myself and many other people are facing in the modern age.”
