cruush - Great Dane
A Great Dane in your pocket? cruush turn a surreal commuting thought into something wiry, tense, and unexpectedly sharp on their new song.
The rhythm of a morning commute is a perfect breeding ground for surreal thoughts popping up in your mind. How about this one: “A Great Dane would never fit into your pocket. Unless it is a tiny one. We tend to carry too much around in our pockets, don’t we?” Amber Warren, singer and guitarist of the Manchester indie rock quartet cruush, uses this absurd image to explain how their new song got its title.
She gives further details:
It’s a song about the 20 to 28 minutes on the train between Todmorden and Manchester Victoria. A daily commute can really poison how beautiful a journey is. Like an oil spill devastating the countryside outside Rochdale; Smithybridge has been absolutely fucked, mate.
On “Great Dane,” cruush give that absurd pocket-sized image a wiry, forward-moving soundtrack.
