Cass McCombs - Peace
What a fabulous new single to announce a new album! Cass McCombs just dropped “Peace,” a beautiful track from his upcoming record Interior Live Oak, out August 15 via Domino.
When I first saw the title, “Peace,” so many ideas and associations sprang to mind. One classic that pushed itself forward was “Peace Train” by Cat Stevens — a song I loved as a teenager. But I gently set that aside, because while Cass McCombs’ new single is just as catchy and gorgeous, it speaks in a different tone: personal yet universal. “When we say goodbye, we say peace." What a magnificent sentiment. Add gentle guitar strumming and Cass’s smooth vocals, and you’ve got a quiet, shimmering winner.
