ARK IDENTITY - Fading Light
“Fading Light” drifts on instinct and atmosphere, pulling you gently into its quiet, immersive glow.
A little ironic, perhaps, that on the 28th anniversary of quitting smoking — twenty-eight years and counting — I’m sharing a visualizer that opens with someone lighting a cigarette. Life has its little twists. That fleeting image belongs to ARK IDENTITY’s newest single “Fading Light” — and once the haze clears, what remains is something altogether more mesmerizing.
The Canadian songwriter, singer, and producer Noah Mroueh, who records as ARK IDENTITY, first caught our attention last year through his collaboration with Double Wish on "Aeroplane." With “Fading Light,” he leans fully into the atmosphere. Built on a soft, pulsing groove and washed in reverb-drenched textures, the track feels less like a narrative and more like a state of mind; floating, reflective, and quietly existential. Noah says about "Fading Light:"
“The song came together entirely from a feeling and a vibe. I wasn’t trying to write a story. I was chasing a feeling. It feels immersive, almost like you’re floating inside someone’s head and consciousness. I didn’t intentionally try to create that feeling, but I think that’s what gives it its identity."
Written and recorded in a single session, the track took shape as Noah improvised melodies and lyrics over an ethereal groove. Those instinctive early takes became the final vocal, preserved for their honesty.“Fading Light” doesn’t demand your attention. It gently pulls you in — and once you’re there, you won’t want to leave.
