Alex Frankel - Icarus
“Icarus” takes off from the heart of New York — shimmering, soulful, and ready for the dance floor.
Longtime Holy Ghost! fan here! For me – and all fellow fans – the frontman of the New York synth-pop duo, Alex Frankel, has released the irresistibly gorgeous “Icarus.” The track takes flight with shimmering synths and a bassline that won’t quit. It’s an upbeat, catchy dance-floor strut, entirely written, performed, and produced by Frankel himself. He gives us a solo moment that still feels like club midnight in Manhattan – a little wild, a little wistful.
In the charismatic video, shot on Kodak 16 mm, we see Alex Frankel playing every instrument – and maybe the highlight comes when he hits the keys of a grand piano. Between studio takes are snapshots of the beautiful Hudson Valley – a video that just makes me incredibly happy.
