Adult Leisure - The Light You Attract

Bright guitars and irresistible momentum drive Adult Leisure’s “The Light You Attract,” a soaring indie anthem that reminds us it’s not the moon but the stars that truly shine.

Adult Leisure - The Light You Attract

With their brand new single "The Light You Attract," Bristol’s Adult Leisure prove once again that the songwriting on their brilliant album The Things You Don’t Know Yet was no fluke. The band’s signature big, expressive vocals, sharp guitar work, and a mesmerizing groove come together in a song that feels instantly uplifting.

We were also lucky enough to experience the four-piece’s infectious stage energy live during New Colossus and even catch up with the band for a short conversation — you can read our interview here.

Lyrically, the song captures the uneasy clarity that comes with recognizing patterns you keep walking into. At one point, the band sings, “It’s not the moon, it’s the stars that you kind of like,” before the song closes with the striking line: “The moons the stars, you took the sky away.”

Discussing the single, guitarist David Woolford explains:

“‘The Light You Attract’ is about recognising the patterns you keep walking into. It’s about that moment when you realise you’re not just a victim of someone else’s chaos; you’re complicit in returning to it. There’s bitterness in that realisation, but there’s clarity too.”
