After reaching the letter “M” – almost halfway through the alphabet – I have about 6,000 songs in there, and the goal is to get it down to about 1,000 in the future. 1000 songs, about 100 albums, seems like a good size for a living record collection where every album triggers a memory, not just “how did that get in here?” I remember how proud I was when my vinyl collection surpassed 100 records. That was serious music loving, not just a casual hodgepodge of hit albums someone would give me for birthdays or Christmas. So it is no wonder that my digital record collection ballooned to some 7,000 songs once acquiring an album was only a click away instead of requiring real money and effort. Abundance is exciting until you realize it overwhelms you. Reducing that number by listening to every album is a slow process, but I believe I owe it to my past self (and the artists), even when I sometimes think, “How did that get in here?” ## Discovery of the Week The [Catburgers](https://www.instagram.com/CAT%5FBURGERS%5FBAND?ref=glamglare.com) formed in Edinburgh in late 1985, played extensively, recorded demos, and split in 1990 without ever releasing an album. Their final recordings instead gathered dust in an attic until a chance Instagram post brought them back into view. Now, four decades after the band began, those songs will finally appear on *Galashiels*, and The Catburgers will even return to the stage for an album release show. “The First Day of Spring” sounds like a small piece of mid-80s Britain, and having visited Edinburgh and Glasgow in 1987, it feels a little like discovering a brand-new release from my own past. ## Cover Song of the Week: Taylor Swift - September Fall is here, and let’s greet September with an artist you wouldn’t see much on glamglare. For a Spotify Singles session, Taylor Swift turned Earth, Wind & Fire’s cross-generational dancefloor filler into a reflective country song. Not everybody was happy about that, including co-writer Allee Willis. Later that evening, we met our friend [**Sophie**](https://glamglare.com/artist/sophie-colette?ref=glamglare.com), who was in town for work, and took her up to our rooftop. We also encountered [Genesis Belanger](https://www.instagram.com/genesisbelanger/?hl=en&ref=glamglare.com)’s wonderfully odd bird installation in City Hall Park.
