The song opens like a broken CD, then gives you a quiet moment before heavy guitars set in. Like the dissonant life [**Spencer Peppet**](https://glamglare.com/artist/spencer-peppet?ref=glamglare.com), singer of the NYC band The Ophelias, describes, the song never lets you settle in, but you may find a strange familiarity in her story.

Spencer says:

> Why are all drinks $18 now? What is that? A drink should be $10\. This song is about watching beautiful people at a fancy event and feeling like I don't belong, and then getting mad about something else entirely.

"Power" is Spencer Peppet's first new solo music in nine years.
