# Magic Wands - Armour

While the press release reads, *"The LA-based (by way of Nashville) duo has continuously defied genre since the groups inception in 2008,"* I feel instantly transported back to the mid-80s in Munich, Germany, where we danced to music similar to that of [**Magic Wands**](https://new.glamglare.com/artist/magic-wands?ref=glamglare.com). Granted, it was "indie" back then, and it still is, but another characteristic is still the same: this is darn good! If you're a fellow lover of bands like Sisters of Mercy or The Cure, yet with the spin of female vocals, then listen to Magic Wands, and let's be happy that such mesmerizing music still gets made.

The duo is comprised of **Chris** and **Dexy Valentine**, and Dexy says about "Armour," the album's title track:

> "It’s a reflection on the paradox of the human condition, the need for protection and an equally strong desire for freedom. It explores those two forces and looks to find a balance between shielding oneself and embracing vulnerability."

Dexy says further:

> “Last year, we released a new album called[*Switch*](https://reybee.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f67b4587af2b2ef9aa80ed984&id=bbe19858df&e=0bdcf8a091&ref=glamglare.com), which was a departure from our previous sound and style. It was less pop, more experimental and introspective. The new music we're writing is in the same direction, but a bit more minimal and uptempo.”
