When Lexi (née **Alexa Carrasco**) sings *“sometimes people go, let go and no one's to blame,”* it lands with a kind of acceptance that’s hard-earned and instantly recognizable. She shares:

> “Ready to Own My Shit’ is really just a journal entry. It’s about being ready to face the good and the bad that life throws at you, the little mundane things like getting a latte for your partner and the bigger morbid things, like, well, people around you dying or deciding not to be a part of your life. I produced it myself not knowing what I was doing and wanting some big cool producer to ‘fix’ it and then when someone I trusted told me it was perfect as is and that I did know what I was doing I decided to believe them.”

There’s something refreshing in that kind of honesty—and in letting a song be exactly what it needs to be.
