- Description: A cellist’s trip-hop-tinged song about the things we can’t quite put into words
- Author: Oliver Bouchard
- Tags: Song Pick of the Day, Music

“Angel” starts slowly, with just a cello, like the solemn overture to a movie. Then a beat sets in, with a not-quite-steady hi-hat that guides you through the song. The German singer, songwriter, and producer [**Jeannel**](https://glamglare.com/artist/jeannel?ref=glamglare.com) is also a classically trained cellist, and in “Angel” she brings her talents together for a haunting, trip-hop-inspired pop gem.

Jeannel explains:

> ANGEL is an ode to the demons within. A fractured attempt to speak to the unspeakable and give shape and name to what cannot be unraveled.

glamglare has followed Jeannel’s work since 2019, and we would have loved to see her perform live at our 2020 SXSW showcase, which was sadly canceled. We’re happy she has now announced her debut album, *MODERN MASTERPIECE*, for 2027.
