People who once felt inseparable can drift apart without a falling-out or a conscious goodbye. Copenhagen band [**Inventory**](https://new.glamglare.com/artist/inventory?ref=glamglare.com) explores that familiar, sometimes bewildering shift on “No Design,” pairing an affecting subject with melodic rock that leaves a little room for dissonance. Its slightly experimental edge brings Chicago band Disappears to mind, and that subtle friction makes it all the more inviting to revisit.

The band says:

> “‘No Design’ is about the shifts that can happen in our relationships as life gradually changes. About how people who were once very close to us can suddenly drift away, not necessarily because anyone actively chooses it, but because new relationships and new commitments begin to take up space.

It’s an experience that becomes all too recognizable as we grow older, with work, love, and family reshaping the space we have for one another. The idea of a “people pyramid” also gives their forthcoming debut album its title, as the band explains:

> “In ‘No Design’, relationships are imagined as a kind of people pyramid, where space is limited. When someone moves up, someone else can end up further down. It becomes a zero-sum game, where something has to make room for something else. It’s a reflection on how distance can emerge between people without us ever quite noticing when it happens.”

Inventory’s debut album *People Pyramids* will be released in February 2027 via Dream Bureau.
