There was a moment, early on, when I wasn’t sure [Heidi Curtis](https://new.glamglare.com/artist/heidi-curtis?ref=glamglare.com)’ new single “What Am I Missing” was for me. The vocals immediately brought to mind that big, expressive, Florence Welch–style delivery — something I’ve learned isn’t always my instinctive go-to. But I stayed with it. And somewhere along the way, the song itself took over. 

Because beneath the vocals, there’s so much to hold onto: the instrumentation, the structure, the way it builds with intention. I caught myself thinking, “If this were sung differently, would I love it?” And the answer came quickly: yes, absolutely. Which, in a way, reframed everything. The vocals didn’t need to change — I just needed to meet the song where it is.

Influences like Fleetwood Mac and Kate Bush are easy to spot in Heid Curtis’ music, but there’s much more to her new single “What Am I Missing.” It’s indie rock at its finest: classic instrumentation, confidently arranged, with a melody and chorus that feel instantly undeniable. Based in Newcastle, England, Heid Curtis is set to join Holly Humberstone on tour — a fitting next step for an artist who clearly knows where she’s heading.

> "**‘What Am I Missing?’** came from a place of deep frustration and burn out. I was putting my all into writing and felt like every road was a dead end, everything felt misaligned and I wanted to get to the centre of what I was feeling but I didn’t know how. In a moment of rage and honesty this song was birthed and with it the answers to what I had been missing all along. It’s the song that I believe gave my sonic identity some clarity and gave me a direction to follow. This song is my own personal reminder that in order to know who you are, you have to have felt lost at some point.”
