This week, enjoy seven new Song Picks, a few glamglare classics, and personal snapshots from a much-needed fall break. - Author: Oliver Bouchard - Tags: Newsletter Over the years, we have been traveling to places to attend music festivals. This Saturday, after returning from Woodstock, we had one right on our doorstep. Together with [The Seaport](https://theseaport.nyc/?ref=glamglare.com) and [Show Brain](https://www.instagram.com/showbrain%5F/?hl=en&ref=glamglare.com), [The New Colossus Festival](https://www.newcolossusfestival.com/?ref=glamglare.com) organized a six-band event right on Fulton and Water Streets. Of course, we went down to see the action up close, but the sound was very inviting from our terrace, too. But who is Show Brain? It is a nonprofit that organizes shows like the Seaport Music Festival in parks across the city. Although the open-air season is almost over, we subscribed to the mailing list and look forward to next year. Because we took a few days off for a lovely (and, as it turned out, much-needed) fall break, today’s newsletter is a bit shorter. Enjoy glamglare classics, new music, and photos from Woodstock until we’re back in full swing next week. ## This Week in glamglare history ![Slow Riot, Danielle Lewis, Millie Turner](https://storage.ghost.io/c/18/0d/180d05b3-e8e5-483a-b156-c2596ebfc2ae/content/images/2026/10/Throwback-Oct-8-1.jpg) Slow Riot, Danielle Lewis, Millie Turner ### 1 Year Ago: [Millie Turner - American Lighting](https://www.glamglare.com/music/millie-turner-american-lighting/) The London singer-songwriter Millie Turner has been delighting us with her bright pop songs. We spent our time revisiting places we love, enjoying the autumn sunshine, and making room for a few favorite traditions. Cooper Lake is one of those places I always want to return to, although I miss being able to sit quietly by the water, meditate, and relax as we used to. It’s a different experience now, but still a beautiful place to visit. We also visited the Comeau, a lovely area where we like to go birding, and beautiful Phoenicia, with the autumn colors spreading across the hills behind its main street. Back at our Airbnb, deer happily roamed the grounds, where we took photos of Oliver and me too—including the one of me right in the middle of these nine, on my birthday. Our wanderings along Rock City Road took us past the Woodstock Film Festival’s marketing outpost, with Oliver in the frame, and to [Good Night](https://www.goodnightwoodstock.com/?ref=glamglare.com) for a fabulous birthday dinner. My dinner photos don’t quite tell the story of what made it so good, so I’ve included just the view from outside, with its welcoming glow after dark. And, as has become a tradition, we watched the final episode of The Queen’s Gambit again on my actual birthday. I love this show’s last episode in particular: the friendship, how it all comes together, and so much joy! And I still don’t know how to play chess. ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/18/0d/180d05b3-e8e5-483a-b156-c2596ebfc2ae/content/images/2026/10/10152026-birthday-in-woodstock---1.jpeg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/18/0d/180d05b3-e8e5-483a-b156-c2596ebfc2ae/content/images/2026/10/10152026-birthday-in-woodstock---2.jpeg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/18/0d/180d05b3-e8e5-483a-b156-c2596ebfc2ae/content/images/2026/10/10152026-birthday-in-woodstock---3.jpeg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/18/0d/180d05b3-e8e5-483a-b156-c2596ebfc2ae/content/images/2026/10/10152026-birthday-in-woodstock---4.jpeg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/18/0d/180d05b3-e8e5-483a-b156-c2596ebfc2ae/content/images/2026/10/10152026-birthday-in-woodstock---5.jpeg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/18/0d/180d05b3-e8e5-483a-b156-c2596ebfc2ae/content/images/2026/10/10152026-birthday-in-woodstock---6.jpeg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/18/0d/180d05b3-e8e5-483a-b156-c2596ebfc2ae/content/images/2026/10/10152026-birthday-in-woodstock---7.jpeg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/18/0d/180d05b3-e8e5-483a-b156-c2596ebfc2ae/content/images/2026/10/10152026-birthday-in-woodstock---8.jpeg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/18/0d/180d05b3-e8e5-483a-b156-c2596ebfc2ae/content/images/2026/10/10152026-birthday-in-woodstock---9.jpeg) Photos: Elke Nominikat & Oliver Bouchard (#5)
