The rhythm of a morning commute is a perfect breeding ground for surreal thoughts popping up in your mind. How about this one: “A Great Dane would never fit into your pocket. Unless it is a tiny one. We tend to carry too much around in our pockets, don’t we?” Amber Warren, singer and guitarist of the Manchester indie rock quartet [**cruush**](https://glamglare.com/artist/cruush?ref=glamglare.com), uses this absurd image to explain how their new song got its title.

She gives further details:

> It’s a song about the 20 to 28 minutes on the train between Todmorden and Manchester Victoria. A daily commute can really poison how beautiful a journey is. Like an oil spill devastating the countryside outside Rochdale; Smithybridge has been absolutely fucked, mate.

On “Great Dane,” cruush give that absurd pocket-sized image a wiry, forward-moving soundtrack.
